Douglas Mark Davaz: 1958-2024
Douglas Mark “Deacon Doug” Davaz died November 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Doug was born in Aberdeen, MD May 7, 1958, to the late Colonel Carl G. Davaz and Mildred Davaz.
Doug had an adventurous spirit. In his youth and as an adult, he traveled extensively in the US, Europe and South America.
Doug was a graduate of the University of Washington. He began his career with the IRS in 1981 in Washington State and retired as Territory Manager in Phoenix in 2017 after 36 years of service.
Doug and his wife Sandy married in Spokane, WA in 1985 and moved to Columbia, MD and Austin, TX before settling in Phoenix in 2001. While in Austin they welcomed daughter Natalie in 1993. Doug was a devoted husband and father.
A lifelong Roman Catholic, Doug was formed as a Deacon and ordained in the Diocese of Phoenix in 2010. He served at St Benedict and St. Mary’s parishes until illness limited his service.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sandy and daughter Natalie and three of four brothers Carl G. Jr., Nick, and twin Dennis, and their families. Preceding him to life eternal were his grandparents, parents and brother Leslie.
A Rosary will be said at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church, 3200 S. Cooper Rd., Chandler, AZ. 85286 on Friday 12/13/2024 at 9:30 AM and funeral Mass at 10 AM. Committal will follow the Mass at 11:30 AM at Queen of Heaven Cemetary 1562 E Baseline, Rd., Mesa, AZ. 85204.
